During MagicCon: Las Vegas, which ran from June 20-22, exclusive previews were presented to congoers. One of these special preview panels revealed a first look at Edge of Eternities, Magic’s upcoming science-fantasy set. Hosted by Riley Knight, featuring Jadine Klomparens (Principal Game Designer), Mike Turian (Executive Producer), Sarah Wassell (Senior Art Director), and Roy Graham (Senior Story Lead), the panel unveiled the world premiere of Magic’s 2026 lineup, including Lorwyn Eclipsed and Secrets of Strixhaven, the reveal of 2026’s MagicCon and Pro Tour dates, and the introduction of Pick-Two Draft, a brand-new way to play.

Edge of Eternities
With the release of Edge of Eternities, fans will journey beyond the realms of Magic: The Gathering into a science-fantasy space opera realm. Players can expect new space-themed cards, mechanics, spacecraft Commanders, and collectibles in Edge of Eternities. They will explore the Sothera system, discover distant planets, use magic, and battle alien factions. The game launches on August 1.
The First Details on Magic’s 2026 Sets
Next year, Magic: The Gathering is set to make a return to two beloved planes. The highly anticipated Lorwyn Eclipsed expansion will be launched on January 23, 2026, as revealed to attendees at MagicCon. Fans can also look forward to the Secrets of Strixhaven expansion, bringing excitement back to the Strixhaven universe. Additionally, the year will kick off with a standalone Pro Tour event in Richmond, VA. The Tour is scheduled from January 30 to February 1. There will be further Pro Tour events in Las Vegas and Amsterdam, with the World Championship held in Atlanta. Details about the formats for the 2026 Pro Tours and Magic World Championship 32 will be announced later.
In 2026, the Spotlight Series will also make its return, expanding on the positive reception of the Open Tournaments. Wizards of the Coast plans to increase the number of events with a greater emphasis on hosting events outside of the United States. This expansion promises to enhance the competitive landscape and engage a wider range of players in the Magic: The Gathering community.
