Lost Tales of the Golden Age #2 and #3 featuring Bogeyman

Featuring never-before-seen stories from the 1940s that were penciled, inked and lettered BUT never published!

Thrilling Nostalgia Comics presents “LOST TALES OF THE GOLDEN AGE” featuring unpublished art/stories from the 1940s which are being  published NOW for the very first time!  If you love Golden Age comics,  check this out because these stories were written and illustrated nearly 80 years ago and now they are colored and ready for you!

Issues #2 & #3 are devoted to a superhero known as THE BOGEYMAN. And, if we raise $2000, we will have a free Issue #0 (digital only) for everyone who buys all four covers!

Where did this art come from and why has it been hidden for 80 years?

The Bogeyman first appeared in Red Band Comics #1 (1944). In total, he appeared in 2 comic stories and 2 text stories in 1944-45, Zoom Comics (Dec. 1945) and Merry Comics (Dec. 1945). The Bogeyman was created by writers/artists working for Bernard Baily at his Baily Publishing shop.

In 1946, Baily closed his studio and publishing companies and sold their inventory and intellectual property to a new buyer who didn’t have the chance to publish the stories. We bought the IP rights and almost all of the inventory from that buyer and, at last, are bringing these stories to the world!

Issue #2 contains TWO unpublished and unseen stories of The Bogeyman PLUS Mr. and Mrs. September, another lost tale from the Baily archives.  Issue #3 contains TWO more unpublished/unseen stories of The Bogeyman PLUS a 12-page Bogeyman story that was published in 1946 ONLY in the United Kingdom in a very rare paper comic book (no glossy cover)  of which we estimate there are less than 10 copies in the world.

If we raise $2000, we will also send a free #0 (digital issue) to all backers who purchase all 4 cover versions or a Luis Rivera Commission. This #0 issue use Mark Texiera’s original pencils as the cover and contains all of the original Golden Age US-published Bogeyman stories, including the text stories.

NOW the #0 issue is available as an add-on for a physical copy for only $5.

Tell us about the covers:

We have 2 covers for each issue, a “vintage cover” using an unpublished drawing from the 1940s and a modern version using one of today’s superstar artists.

For the Vintage covers, Lost Tales #2 uses a Spook Comics #1 cover that Baily Publications had John Giunta draw back in 1945/56 when it was considering making the Bogeyman the star of Spook Comics.  Instead, that role went to Mr. Lucifer and this cover languished unused, until we purchased it.  Lost Tales #2 features an unused Golden Age Bogeyman splash page as its cover.  Inker Bob Almond provided the inks to this drawing.

For our Modern Covers, we are thrilled to have superstar Chris Mooneyham (who did the Great Gazabo cover for Lost Tales #1) back again on #2 with The Bogeyman.  Another home run by Chris!  For #3, the great Mark Texiera did an amazing job on a Bogeyman headshot and we couldn’t be happier with his fine work.
