LONG TIME ARCHIE ARTIST TIM KENNEDY PASSES AWAY

Tim Kennedy was a comic book artist, who had a longtime association with Archie Comics. He has drawn several comics and digests starring in the 1980s. He has often worked with his twin brother Pat Kennedy.

Tim with his twin brother Pat went to the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Graphic Design in 1981, graduating in 1985. The brothers were hired by Victor Gorelick to work at Archie Comics on July 16, 1989, Tim continued to work at Archie for the remainder of his life.

The following statements from his friends and co-workers.

In a statement from Archie Comics
“We are saddened to learn of the passing of artist Tim Kennedy, whose work, in conjunction with his brother, Pat, helped shape the look of Archie Comics. Our thoughts are with his loved ones, friends, and the devoted fans he leaves behind.”

From Mike Pellerito
“Incredibly sad to learn of the passing of Tim Kennedy. For decades the Fabulous K Bros have dazzled fans around the world bringing some of the funniest and most difficult stories from idea to the page.”

From Jamie Lee Rotante
“Incredibly sad news to share today. Tim Kennedy was a fantastic artist, and so much of the work that he and his brother Pat have done for Archie, from classic humor to horror, were some of my favorites. Masterful artists and storytellers. Tim will be missed.”

From Dan Parent
“I was very sad to hear of the passing of my colleague and longtime Archie artist Tim Kennedy.
Also an ex-Kubert student like myself, he started at Archie( along with his talented brother Pat) around the same time as I did. It’s been a joy to watch his work over the years. He is easily one of the most versatile artists ever, ranging from classic Archie to the more adult Life with Archie, to horror-ific titles like Jughead, the Hunger!
I met him several times at the Archie offices and talked to him on the phone in the Archie early days when we worked together on a few titles like Jughead’s Diner and some of those wacky early 90’s books. I wish I’d had more interactions with him over the years. It was always a pleasure to talk to him and his brother about our early Archie fandom. He really wasn’t on social media or the convention circuit much. I wish I could have had another conversation with him. But that always seems to be the case when friends leave us too soon.
My condolences go out to his brother, Pat, part of that artistic dynamic duo. Their talents have inspired me and entertained many, many readers. And the work lives on, as it will continue to entertain many older and newer readers in the future.
I’ve attached a few of the many beautiful pieces Tim has done with Pat.
My deepest condolences to Pat, I’m sure this is an extremely difficult time. But I hope the art and memories you created with your brother will help in your grief.”

From J. Torres
“I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Archie Comics artist Tim Kennedy. Although he drew a few of my stories, we unfortunately never got to meet. I did love his art, though, and here are a few pages that demonstrate how he made me look better”

From Paul Kupperberg
“Comics has lost Tim Kennedy, who I worked extensively with alongside his brother Pat on stories for Archie Comics and Charlton NEO. No matter what I threw their way, whether it was Archie or funny animal or romance, they always delivered 200%. My condolences to Pat and his family.”
