Los Angeles, CA — June 7, 2023 — Somos Arte and Zoop are proud to announce a new campaign for La Borinqueña Volume 1 Omnibus Collection featuring an exclusive cover designed by DC Comics cover artist Ariel Jesús Colón (Action Comics, Green Lantern, Dark Crisis) with interior story art by Will Rosado (1/6, GI Joe), Christopher Sotomayor (Avengers, Captain America), and story written by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez.
Award-winning graphic novelist and philanthropist Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, creator of the best-selling superhero series La Borinqueña, is set to launch his first crowdfunding campaign for La Borinqueña Volume 1, the oversized hardcover collecting, for the first time, 300-plus pages from his first four graphic novels. This special collection will be available to pre-order for fans, retailers, and libraries via a partnership with Zoop, the all-in-one pre-order, production, fulfillment, and marketing solution for independent publishers like Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez.
The first issue of La Borinqueña published in 2016 is officially part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and will be included in this hardcover edition along with La Borinqueña #2 (2018), La Borinqueña #3 (2021), and the critically acclaimed team-up La Borinqueña guest starring Rosario Dawson (2022).
La Borinqueña Volume 1 will present readers with the first full story-arc of Miranda-Rodriguez’ titular character. The proceeds of the sale of this book will support Miranda-Rodriguez’ continued charity work, which to date has already raised and awarded $200,000 in micro-grants to non-profits throughout Puerto Rico.
La Borinqueña graphic novels continue to be taught at public and private schools throughout Puerto Rico and the United States in addition to universities like MIT, Princeton, Stanford, Columbia, Fordham, Colgate, and more.
