The Aquaman film occurs following the events of Justice League, Arthur Curry, the reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, is caught in a battle between surface dwellers that threaten his oceans and his own people, who are ready to lash out and invade the surface.
Mora was an interesting choice at the time of casting Superman vs. Batman. Aquaman had traditionally been a blond European looking man and was originally not from Atlantis, it was a gamble, in the nature of, Twinspires offer code, to cast a more realist portrayal in a genre not know for its willingness to accept deviation from it fanboy roots, but just like Twinspires offer code the rewards could be tremendous…
“The story must start with my father, a famous undersea explorer — if I spoke his name, you would recognize it. My mother died when I was a baby, and he turned to his work of solving the world’s secrets. His greatest discovery was an ancient city, in the depths where no other diver had ever penetrated. My father believed it was the lost kingdom of Atlantis. He made himself a water-tight home in one of the palaces and lived there, studying the records and devices of the race’s marvelous wisdom. From the books and records, he learned ways of teaching me to live under the ocean, drawing oxygen from the water and using all the power of the sea to make me wonderfully strong and swift. By training and scientific secrets, I became what you see — a human being who lives and thrives under the water.”
In modern comics “Aquaman is born as Orin to Queen Atlanna and the mysterious wizard Atlan in the Atlantean city of Poseidonis. As a baby, he was abandoned on Mercy Reef, which is above sea level at low tide, causing exposure to air which would be fatal to Atlanteans, because of his blond hair, which was seen by the superstitious Atlanteans as a sign of a curse known as the mark of Kordax. As a feral child who raised himself in the wilds of the ocean with only sea creatures to keep him company, Orin was found and taken in by a lighthouse keeper named Arthur Curry who named Orin “Arthur Curry” after himself.”
In the television series Entourage, the was a movie, James Cameron’s Aquaman, directed by James Cameron and released by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is based on the DC Comics character of the same name, Aquaman. The film stars Vincent Chase as Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman, Mandy Moore as Aquagirl and James Woods as the movie’s antagonist, Abaddon, a corrupt businessman. Ray Liotta and Sharon Stone also co-star as Arthur Curry’s birth parents. It was written by Andrew Kevin Walker with the musical score composed by Steve Jablonsky.
In the television series Smallville, they had their own version of Aquaman whom they hoped with spin off into his own Aquaman series, Alan Ritchson played Arthur “AC” Curry, born as Orin. is a mysterious Atlantean swimmer that has a special connection with water and the life forms within it. He is a former marine biology student at the University of Miami and an on-and-off member of the Justice League under the codename: Aquaman. After having met and married Mera, Arthur learned of his true origins as Orin and has embraced his destiny as the King of the Seven Seas.
However, both of those versions are a product of their times and Mora makes a much more convincing leader of the undersea kingdom.
