IT’S LONELY AT THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH’S ZOE THOROGOOD TEAMS WITH DEBUT CREATOR JOE WHITEFORD FOR UPCOMING MINISERIES VAMPIRE ON AISLE 6 THIS DECEMBER

PORTLAND, Ore. 09/28/2026 — From the industry’s most buzzed-about new voice in comics, multiple award nominated Zoe Thorogood (It’s Lonely At The Centre Of The Earth, Hack/Slash: Back To School, Joe Hill’s Rain) teams with Joe Whiteford for the upcoming Vampire on Aisle 6. This all-new, three-issue paranormal miniseries was exclusively announced at IGN earlier this month and is set to launch in December from Image Comics.

Thorogood hit the scene with the critically acclaimed release of her semi-autobiographical novel The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott in the UK. Next she worked with New York Timesbestselling author Joe Hill (Locke & Key) to illustrate and adapt one of his popular prose short stories into a standalone graphic novel, Joe Hill’s Rain. From there Thorogood’s profile skyrocketed when Image Comics published her graphic-nonfiction memoir, It’s Lonely at the Centre of the Earth. It’s Lonely at the Centre of the Earth sold out and went back-to-print multiple times within its first year of publication and went on to sell an astounding 100K copies across formats. Thorogood’s instant breakout success caught the attention of the Eisner Awards committee and she was nominated for five Eisner Awards in 2023, making her the most-nominated creator that year. She went on to win the prestigious Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award and solidified her status as “one-to-watch” in the industry.

In Vampire on Aisle 6, Luka claims to be a vampire. He’s trapped in a mascot-themed superstore, the sun won’t set for another ten hours, and he’s just made his first kill.

After being bitten by a mysterious man at the end of an unfortunate week, Luka begins experiencing vampiric symptoms including a newfound bloodlust, a shattered reflection, and an unwillingness to go outside. His life begins unravelling.

“Vampire on Aisle 6 is a comic + album about a self-proclaimed vampire trapped in a mascot-themed grocery store,” said Thorogood. “It’s a story about traumatic change and the isolation that follows. We hope readers/listeners are ready for an unconventional vampire story and understand, that really, It’s All Just Meat.”

Whiteford added: “Zoe took an idea I’ve had in my head for years and has created a bloody, heart felt, anti-corporate, sexy comic released along side 8 new Harley Poe songs that reveal insight to the story and its characters. It’s a lovely punk rock collaboration of music and art, and it’s definitely not your average vampire tale.”
