The Many Ways of the Artificer

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer brings five new subclasses to life, specializing in armor, alchemy, artillery, smithing, and cartography. These subclasses are excellent for enhancing the party’s defenses and creating challenges for regular enemies.

Armorer (Artificer): Armorers are trained in Heavy armor and proficient with Smith’s Tools, allowing them to halve the crafting time for both nonmagical and magical armor. They can also transform their armor into an arcane exoshell that ignores Strength requirements and offers unique capabilities that can be changed during rests.

Alchemist (Artificer): Alchemists are skilled with Alchemist’s Supplies and the Herbalism Kit, allowing them to create potions in half the usual time. They also have the Experimental Elixir feature, which gives them two random elixirs after each Long Rest and allows them to add their Intelligence modifier to one healing or damage roll when casting spells with their supplies.

Artillerist (Artificer): Artillerists are skilled in Martial Ranged weapons and Woodcarver’s Tools, and they can craft magic Wands in half the usual time. They also have the Eldritch Cannon feature, which lets them create a Small or Tiny cannon that serves as a mobile artillery unit.

Battle Smith (Artificer): Battle Smiths are skilled with martial weapons and Smith’s Tools, allowing them to craft nonmagical and magical weapons in half the time. They can use their Intelligence for attack and damage rolls with magic weapons and treat any weapon they’re proficient with as a Spellcasting Focus.

Cartographer (Artificer): Cartographers are skilled in using Calligrapher’s Supplies and Cartographer’s Tools, allowing them to complete Spell Scrolls in half the usual time. They also have a special feature called Adventurer’s Atlas, which creates a set of connected magical maps.
