Limited Edition: The Untold Legend of The Batman #1 (Facsimile Edition) – From comic legends Len Wein, Jim Aparo, and John Byrne comes to this haunting and introspective tale that puts all of the Caped Crusader’s detective skills to the test. When the original Batsuit worn by Bruce Wayne’s late father is stolen from the Batcave, Batman begins investigating the possible culprit. This special still stands as one of the cornerstones of what makes Batman unique and iconic. The three chapters presented in this special showcase Len Wein at his best, along with fantastic art from John Byrne and Jim Aparo, making this a Batman story that every fan should own. Facsimile or not, it’s still one of the greats.

Silverhawks #1 – The animated phenomenon from the 1980s returns for a new generation of readers to enjoy, especially considering its release follows the success Dynamite Entertainment has had with their “Thundercats” revival. While most elements from the cartoon remain intact, the direction, under Ed Brisson’s writing, offers a mature and sophisticated approach that transcends the typical sci-fi superhero genre. This brilliance may, however, deter long-time fans due to slow pacing and subpar artwork by George Kambadais. It would have been ideal if Dynamite had chosen a more refined artist to capture the series’ dark tones. Nonetheless, this new take on “Silverhawks” proves to be a promising start with plenty of room to grow as the series progresses. Here’s hoping this first issue is just a speed bump for Brisson and Kambadais and that they can launch this series with awe and brilliance.

Superman: Lex Luthor Special #1 – Joshua Williamson continues the glorious world-building in his “Superman” run, now redirecting his attention to Lex Luthor, who is currently living with amnesia due to the events of “House of Brainiac.” This has revealed a more vulnerable yet innocent side to his character that no one has seen before, all while he tries to avoid confronting his past actions. Throughout this special, we catch glimpses of Luthor regressing to his old ways (which is only a matter of time) as he gradually regains his memories and explores a moment from his childhood that played a crucial role in his transformation. Once the old Lex Luthor returns, it will mark an epic grandstand for one of DC’s most iconic villains. With that said, this special exemplifies the sensational work Williamson is doing with Superman while adding another layer to a remarkable run that will never be forgotten.

Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around, and I look forward to seeing you all next time.
