Batman/Superman: World’s Finest # 25– The 25th issue of this title puts the focus on retelling the first meeting between Lex Luthor and The Joker is without a doubt a fun read that shows the unbalanced chemistry between these two iconic villains while showing how very different they are as opposed to the usual icons that headline this series. While this issue isn’t exactly up to par with the past few stories this is still a great villains tale for anyone to take in and enjoy due to the menacing tone of The Joker and the arrogant nature of Lex Luthor being captured with excellence and how an alliance can easily be broken.

Web of Spider-Man # 1– Web functions as a review of the upcoming storyline that will be coming to the Spider-titles; From Tombstone’s plotting to destroy Spider-Man, Miles Morales dealing with vampires (again) as he heads into the next summer event “Blood Hunt”, Norman Osborn in action as The Gold Goblin, Spider-Gwen’s new status quo and another multiversal story involving Spider-Man 2099 and the “Spider-Society” that looks promising, the stories in this anthology are a great way to get into the Spider-Titles even if some of them seem too familiar. The repeated use of exposition kills any momentum in enjoying these stories (The “Spider-Society” is proof of that as it crams too much into its plot in the last few pages of this book); This may have been a great way to get out the popcorn and digest everything within this book. With that said, it’s safe to say that Spider-Man’s world looks to be bright in 2024 and beyond.

Wonder Woman # 7– With Diana’s world in dismay, this issue takes a left turn and gives us a heartwarming story instead of Tom King doing his usual Tom Clancy routine that he loves doing when he writes his scripts as WW meets up with Superman for some friend’s day out scenario complete with them shopping for a birthday present in a galaxy mall for Batman so yeah, this is one of those rare times King can deliver a story that brings out the goofy aspects; From the awkward small talk to Superman himself getting a manicure (Too Funny!), it looks like King was trying his best to be cute with the dialogue as he probably saw too many Judd Apatow or Tina Fey movies for inspiration but in the end, it comes off as being flat. The concept of Wonder Woman and Superman in a mall sounds fun when you blurt it out to a few friends over dinner or hanging out at your local comics shop but to see it in print would have been better if King took the day off. Another writer who could handle a story like this would have shined so for the most part, it’s a bargain-basement version of the classic “For The Man Who Has Everything” story from Superman Annual # 11. Instead of paying homage with a fresh spin, it’s a story that should have stayed an idea no matter how noble King’s intentions were.

Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
