HORROR TAKES OVER WITH ‘IDW GOES DARK’ IN 2027

“For fans of good horror comics, there’s no better place to turn than the IDW Dark imprint.” – Jesse Schedeen, IGN Entertainment

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 5, 2026) – New York Comic Con week has arrived! IDW Publishing will be at the show with can’t-miss signings and exclusives at booth #4551, plus a panel that’ll have the entire industry talking (Friday morning, 11:15am in room 406.2). To celebrate the big show, IDW has at least one major announcement planned for every single weekday. While we can’t spoil any secrets (yet), we can tease there will be big news for fans of STAR TREK, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, horror, and a major reveal we cannot wait to declassify during the panel.

To kick off the week-long celebration, IDW’s infecting its entire publishing line with the ambitious initiative IDW GOES DARK. The best-selling horror print is taking over with a truly sinister selection of new horror comics throughout all of 2027, featuring HELLO KITTY, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, GODZILLA, STAR TREK, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, and new original nightmares from the imprint.

The terrifying takeover with IDW Goes Dark will also feature A QUIET PLACE: RISING TIDES, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, ANY GIVEN SMILE, EVENT HORIZON: PANDEMONIUM, as well as the upcoming already-announced originals FATAL FEST and BENEATH THE TREES WHERE NOBODY SEES: THE SUMMER AND THE FALL. Fans at NYCC, don’t miss the exclusive ashcans for FATAL FEST #1 and YOU’LL NEVER LEAVE THIS PLACE ALIVE #1 at the IDW booth before they sell out.

“One of my earliest memories is the day I accidentally watched Stephen King’s It when I was nearly 5 years old,” said Heather Antos, Senior Group Editor and lead on the IDW Dark imprint. “One of my first jobs was working in my local haunted house as a teenager. And one of the first comics I ever fell in love with was Hellblazer. We’ve been blown away by the way fans have embraced IDW’s horror books, and this is our opportunity to give them even more of what they love while pushing these characters and worlds into places they’ve never gone before. We’re bringing together incredible creators, iconic licenses, bold new ideas, and the absolute best damn comics we can make– and I cannot wait to see just how dark we can go.”
More details lurk in the shadows for now, but we can tease there will be a spine-tingling surprise for horror fans at the IDW panel this Friday…
