In 1928, commercial artist Hal Foster was hired to adapt Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs into a 60-installment newspaper comic—an assignment that would help launch the modern adventure comic strip. Over the next seven years, his lush artwork and cinematic storytelling turned Tarzan into a Sunday newspaper icon, thrilling readers with tales of jungle danger, lost civilizations, and larger-than-life villains.

Produced from original newspaper pages and preserving the vintage Ben Day dot coloring, Hal Foster’s Tarzan recreates the look and excitement of the classic Sunday “funnies” that captivated generations of readers. The book will become available in May 2026.
