G-Man Comics is excited to announce that Gilbert Monsanto has accepted the position of Art Director. G-Man Comics was launched by Rik Offenberger, Jim Burrows, and Eric N. Bennett in September 2019 with the publication of WHO’S WHO, THE OFFICIAL HANDBOOK OF THE G-MAN UNIVERSE #1. The comic featured extensive work by Gilbert Monsanto. This was followed in September 2020 with SIMON N. KIRBY, THE AGENT #1, also featuring art by Gilbert Monsanto. Gilbert started his career as a comic book writer/artist in the Philippines in the ’90s. He was later the chief instructor for Whilce Portacio’s comic creation school in Manila for three years. He penciled Hellcop and Houdini: The Man from Beyond under Image Comics.  Other projects he has drawn include the 50th Anniversary Trilogy of Darna (Mango Comics), Hands of the Dragon (Black Ink Comics), and some independent titles, such as Bayan Knights.

Rik Offenberger stated, “We really couldn’t produce comics without Gilbert. He has been the backbone of everything we do. From working with Jim, Eric, and me to working with our backers to help bring their characters to life, he is incredibly patient, understanding, and easy to work with.”

Jim Burrows added, “It was Gilbert who suggested that we turn from producing fanzines to creating our own comics. Not at all surprisingly, he was the artist on our first issue, has done several more stories for us, is one of our most prolific cover artists, and has acted as the colorist for many other covers that were submitted as black and white artwork. Quite simply, there would be no G-Man Comics without Gilbert Monsanto. Thank you, my friend.”

Eric N. Bennett said, “Gilbert’s hard-working and dedicated, and his skills as both artist and colorist bring a utility-like flexibility to any production with which he’s involved.”
