Steven Butler is a 37-year veteran comics artist. He is best known for drawing the first appearance of Spider-Man’s clone, Scarlet Spider, in Web of Spider-Man for Marvel Comics in the 1990s, as well as for a long run illustrating the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series for Archie Comics. He has also illustrated many other comic series, such as The Badger for First Comics, Silver Sable and the Wildpack and Punisher War Journal for Marvel, Superman for DC Comics, many stories for Disney Adventures magazine, and a large number of Lady Death homage covers for Brian Pulido’s Coffin Comics. Steven is currently working alongside his daughter Lily Butler, providing artwork for Archie Comics digest books and seasonal comics, as well as forming DUO Publishing with her and putting out their self-published title Fianna McCool and the Hound of Ulster, an anthropomorphic ode to Celtic mythology. Steven’s spotlight panel focuses primarily on his achievements and challenges throughout his career, and how he discovered that there are indeed good opportunities in the industry completely outside the mainstream.
