Kevin Terry was a hero long before he took on the mantle of superhero. He worked with the youth of his community, trying to make a difference.
After being diagnosed with a deadly form of kidney cancer, he underwent an enhanced treatment that enables one’s white blood cells to absorb electromagnetic energy and store it as chemical energy the body could use to heal itself. During the treatment, something went wrong — causing Kevin to absorb too much energy at once, and transforming him into the hero now known as FiveStar.
