FIGHT TO THE DEATH AS YOUR FAVORITE EXQUISITE CORPSES KILLER IN UPCOMING COMPANION TRADING CARD GAME

Tiny Onion is launching Exquisite Corpses: The Game shortly after the first season of the horror comic book event series; fans can collect early killer cards exclusively in polybagged Cover C variants of each issue

PORTLAND, Ore. 04/14/2025—Fans will soon be able to immerse themselves within the deadly world of the highlyanticipated horror event series, Exquisite Corpses, with a companion trading card game that is launching shortly after the first season of the comics, produced by Tiny Onion and Image Comics. Led by Eisner Award-winning horror creators James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children, The Department of Truth) and Michael Walsh (The Silver Coin, Universal Monsters: Frankenstein)—in collaboration with a murderer’s row of writers, artists, and creatives—Exquisite Corpses debuts this May with the first 13-issue season, kicking off a terrifying new storytelling venture.

Players of the upcoming TCG will be able to wield the weapons of their favorite killers from the comics, and fans can start collecting early with cards found exclusively within polybagged Cover C variants of each issue. With gameplay designed by co-creator and frequent Magic: The Gatheringartist Walsh, Exquisite Corpses: The Game has been developed in tandem with the comic series.

“Michael showed up at that first story summit, six months before the rest of the team was there. He was like, ‘I think I have a game mechanic,’ and started drawing on all of these little dry-erase cards, actually creating the stats for each of the characters in front of us,” said co-creator Tynion IV. “And then we played a version of the game right there at the summit, and it was incredibly fun. And we knew immediately that this could be something really, really cool.”

Details are tightly under wraps, but Tiny Onion describes Exquisite Corpses: The Game as a mix between competitive trading card games like Magic: The Gathering and casual party games like Ultimate Werewolf.

“Whether this is their very first card game or they attend weeklies at their local game shop, fans will be able to pick up and play Exquisite Corpses: The Game and have a blast,” added Tiny Onion Director of Editorial Eric Harburn. “This is a widely accessible game with deceptive complexity; fans will be able to play as their favorite killer from the series, with each killer possessing unique skills that can harmonize or clash with the other killers in play. No two games are alike, and trust us: you’ll want to play more than one.”

To ensure quality gameplay and balance, Walsh has been playtesting the game since early 2024 with a dedicated playtester group, ‘The Barn Burners’. “My goal is to make this a game that fans can throw in their bag and take to a party, or throw in their luggage and play after a day at a convention,” shares Walsh. “We wanted to create a game that is easy to pick up, but hard to put down.”

Exquisite Corpses: The Game is set to launch after the first season of the comic series finishes. Until then, readers can get their hands on exclusive cards early by picking up Cover C, which will include a different killer card polybagged with each issue. “We’re so excited for people to play the game, we couldn’t wait to get the cards in their hands,” said Tynion. “If readers are picking up the Cover C variants, they will be able to start playing a streamlined version of the game as the series releases.”

Exquisite Corpses #1 (Cover A) will be a double-length debut issue, featuring 60 pages of story content for just $4.99, and will be available at comic book shopson Wednesday, May 14 (with an FOC of April 21). The Cover C variant not only features the extra-length issue, but also an exclusive Exquisite Corpses: The Game killer card within a protective polybag for $6.99.
