FANTASTIC COMIC FAN: Uncle Scrooge Comics! Yep, You Heard Right!

Last year, I found it interesting how many “duck comics” were planned. Since then, there has been a duck-themed omnibus, with Dynamite’s Darkwing Duck Omnibus Vol. 1, Darkly Dawns the Duck. I’m not sure what I’m more impressed by: it looks like there might be another volume, or the name of the trade.

And going into 2026, it looks like Duck Season is still going on, especially with Uncle Scrooge. At one time, he had his own series that started way back in 1952 and ran for over 450 issues. Yes, that Uncle Scrooge.

Think of it, if a year ago, I told you Jason Aaron (Yes! That one!), Mahmud Asrar (who just finished up with Amazing X-Men), and Giuseppe Camuncoli (did you see Radioactive Spider-Man?) were teaming up for an Uncle Scrooge mini-series… well, you’d think I was crazy. Yet, the four-issue Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck was really, really fun reading.

The story goes like this: Earth has fallen to the Connoisseurs, a race of alien collectors who plunder worlds for their most valuable relics. Only Scrooge — the planet’s greatest adventurer — stands a chance of stopping them. But the real fight doesn’t take place in space or on the battlefield; it unfolds inside Scrooge’s own mind, where he must protect his most treasured memories from being stolen or wiped away.

Aaron channels the same creative spark he brought to Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime, blending a deep respect for Carl Barks’ foundational work with the emotional richness often associated with Don Rosa. Layered over that is his own signature sense of mythic, larger‑than‑life adventure. The result is a portrayal of Scrooge that goes far beyond comedy; Aaron frames him as a true, legendary explorer, a figure whose most incredible wealth lies in the memories he’s earned — and whose most dangerous enemy is the possibility of losing them.

Now, you would think that Disney owns Uncle Scrooge and Marvel, you’d think that they would be the only ones putting everything out in Uncle Scrooge comics. Nope! That would go to Fantagraphics! They began releasing major Uncle Scrooge material in 2011 with The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library and in 2014 with The Don Rosa Library.

And it doesn’t end there with good old Uncle Scrooge!  Several Scrooge-centric collections are coming out in 2026. For example, coming in March, there is Uncle Scrooge: Clan McDuck Stories and Glories. The very first lore book dedicated to Uncle Scrooge’s ancestral clan takes readers on a sweeping journey through McDuck history. Join Duckburg’s wealthiest adventurer as he explores Matey McDuck’s swashbuckling Elizabethan era, Molly Mallard’s 19th‑century showdown with Scotland’s most notorious criminal, and Swamphole McDuck’s exploits in the heart of Sherwood Forest — all presented in feature‑length comic adventures making their North American debut.

And, of course, there’s more duck-centric comics lined up for 2026. But THAT will have to wait for another time. For now, find yourself some Uncle Scrooge! They are all-ages fun!
