Ezekiel Zhong-Han Azib talks about CHRONICLES OF THE METAVERSAL

Ezekiel Zhong-Han Azib is the creator of The Chronicles of the Metaversal, Ezekiel breaks the storytelling format with his unorthodox approach. Be it through tarot readings of pro wrestling, he weaves tales of the experiences around him and shares them with any who would listen. Wrestling the mysteries of the Metaverse from their hidden places and shouting them to any who would listen, and inspires the lost to find purpose. His first comic is coming from Thunder Zone is launching a Kickstarter today for delivery in March 2024. Ezekiel was nice enough to stop by First Comics News to let our readers know all about Chronicles of the Metaversal.

First Comics News: What is the metaverse?

Ezekiel Zhong-Han Azib: It is the result of Meta’s world since ‘The Shatter’ where his world was destroyed and its remains spread across the rest of the multiverse (as seen in Indieversity Earth 10).

1st: Who is Meta?

Ezekiel: Without saying too much: the man who stands in the way. If you’re in danger he’ll stand before you to protect you. If you’re going to create danger he’ll stand in your way to stop you.

1st: What is Leo City Wrestling?

Ezekiel: LCW is the in-story wrestling company in Leo City representing Singapore Pro Wrestling (SPW) which I am a part of.

1st: What is the Establishment?

Ezekiel: The establishment is the tyrannical government of Leo City.

1st: Who is the Gestapo?

Ezekiel: The Gestapo is the hierarchical leader, set in his ways, and any nudge from his plan is met with dire consequences even within his own ranks.

1st: Who is Regina?

Ezekiel: Regina is the ‘Face’, softening the hard image of the Government.

1st: Who is the Social Scholar?

Ezekiel: Social Scholar is the Brains running the science & media divisions.

1st: Who are Rose City Thorn Rerrick & Perry?

Ezekiel: The Rose City Thorns is the militant arm of the establishment with the 2 leading the enforcement of their ruling and breaking resistance before they can take root.

1st: What does the Establishment want from Meta?

Ezekiel: His demise be it death or humiliation.

1st: In real life, you are a professional wrestler, how did you break into wrestling?

Ezekiel: I was actually very lucky to learn there is someone who made the wrestling industry here in Singapore, I went to a few of their shows, and from there learned they do run lessons and I just became part of the industry: training to perform, & working the shows.

1st: How do you use your experience telling stories in the ring to tell stories in the comic?

Ezekiel: No different from how we tell stories on screen, watch back the footage and thinking back ‘was this how I did that & did the crowd pick up what I did or see things I did not intend to do’.

1st: How do you tell Tarot stories?

Ezekiel: I have a special tarot deck made for storytelling, be it pulling cards for myself or others, each tale is special.

1st: How does this type of storytelling influence your comic?

Ezekiel: It builds the Metaverse one character at a time and with each character comes their adventures which become woven into the adventures of everyone before & after them.
