Comic Book Cats, number 97: Evil Eye #8, inside back cover drawn by Richard Sala, published by Fantagraphics in September 2001.
Here’s an eerie pin-up by Richard Sala, an artist whose work I only recently discovered. Sala’s creator-owned series Evil Eye ran for 12 issues between 1998 and 2004 and was followed by the graphic novel Peculia and the Groon Grove Vampires in 2005. This piece from Evil Eye #8 is a good example of Sala’s weird, spooky artwork that features, among its various odd elements, several striking-looking cats.
Sala regrettably passed away earlier this year, on May 7th, at the age of 65.
