Comic Book Cats, number 43: Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose #30, written & drawn by Jim Balent and lettered & colored by Holly Golightly, published by Broadsword Comics in January 2005.
Pooka, the adorable winged “goblin cat” familiar of Tarot, features prominently in this issue by Jim Balent & Holly Golightly. The cover and this page with the care & feeding of your goblin cat are pretty much the only two images from “Haunted Hairball” that I feel comfortable sharing here since nearly everything else in the issue is sooooo NSFW.
Nevertheless, Balent & Golightly definitely love cats, and always do a great job drawing our feline friends, so I wanted to feature something by them. Besides, it is good to see a successful, long-running creator-owned series, even if it isn’t necessarily one that I happen to find personally appealing, although I have picked up the occasional issue here and there. It’s nice that Broadsword is still around after two decades because Jim & Holly are obviously doing work they enjoy.
