Captain Action Announces Fifth Annual Custom Contest

Creative Theme celebrates iconic Action Figure

New York, N.Y. (July 5, 2019): Captain Action Enterprises is excited to announce The Fifth Annual Fan Contest at Comic-Con International, commonly called San Diego Comic-Con. This contest promotes creativity and collectability by inviting fans to submit fan artwork of Captain Action, including photos of any of the Captain Action figures from the character’s fifty-year history.

This year, in honor of the new Captain Action efforts theme, will be creativity.  Building upon the custom figure contests from past years, this year’s contest will be expanded to include Fan Artwork in traditional (and non-traditional) comic styles. The two categories will be:

  1. Illustration Artwork featuring Captain Action and related characters
  2. Action figure photos featuring Captain Action and related characters

An All-Star Panel of Judges will review the artwork and photo entries and select the winners at the panel during San Diego Comic-Con.  Winners will be judged upon creativity, craftsmanship, originality, and professionalism.

The panel’s exact time and location will be announced shortly.

Judges for the custom contest include:

  • Scott Dunbier, IDW
  • C. Vaughn, Vice President, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide
  • Michael Polis, Atomic Toybox Entertainment, Wildbrain, and Yo Gabba Gabba
  • Harold Sipe, Small Monsters Games, LLC
  • Daniel (Julius Marx) Pickett, Action Figure Insider
  • Meg Stivison, Small Monsters Games, LLC

The panel will be moderated by Captain Action’s Ed Catto.

Fans are also invited to visit the Atomic Toybox Booth (#3921) on the San Diego Comic-Con showroom floor to pre-order the exciting new Captain Action figures.
