SALEM, OR. Madeleine Holly-Rosing, writer/creator of the graphic novel series Boston Metaphysical Society, announced the launch of her campaign to fund the printing of the hardback edition of volume three of the popular steampunk supernatural series. It includes the entire Mystery at Pikes Peak mini-series as well as new pin-up art and an exclusive eleven-page bonus story with art by Roberta Ingranata. The volume will come in at over 136 pages. “Pulling together these special editions is always a treat,” commented Ms. Holly-Rosing. “I know the fans will love the book and the new mechanical arm metal bookmark.”
This special limited edition will feature a cover by Claudia Ianniciello (Critical Role, Dr. Who, White Ash Comics) on both the hardcover and softcover versions. “Claudia did an outstanding job capturing the essence of the characters and the story,” remarked Ms. Holly-Rosing. “I am thrilled that we have already reached several stretch goals. We’re adding a satin bookmark ribbon and, hopefully, foil stamping will be next. I love adding value to the books.”
Ms. Holly-Rosing brings her background of TV and feature film writing to the world of comics, along with a love of history and science fiction. The comic began online twelve years ago and went to print with a special twenty-four-page edition a year later. The original series received an Honorable Mention at the 2013 Geekie Awards and was nominated for Best Comic/Graphic Novel in 2014. It was also consistently nominated for best webcomic by the Steampunk Chronicles Readers’ Choice Awards in 2013, 2014, and 2015. In 2019, Source Point Press re-published the original six-issue mini-series and the subsequent four sequels in 2020/21.
A veteran of crowdfunding, Ms. Holly-Rosing has successfully funded her entire graphic novel series on Kickstarter, along with her first-ever audio drama, The Ghost Ship, as well as her new series, Morgana Pendragon. This new campaign will include an art deco-style copper-finish metal bookmark featuring a mechanical arm and new pin-up art.
The campaign will end on June 11 and has already reached its funding goal of $10,000. For more information, please visit the Kickstarter Homepage or www.queenofmercia.com.
