BAD IDEA Claims Responsibility for Historic Art Heist

On June 2nd, the world’s most expensive banana was reported stolen by a security guard at the Centre Pompidou-Metz in the city of Metz, eastern France. The looted fruit was an integral piece of Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan’s world-famous modern artwork, The Comedian.

Local police are offering a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to the capture and arrest of the thief.

Today, BAD IDEA is stepping forward to claim responsibility for the heist.

BAD IDEA CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani released the following statement, “Yes, we did it. We needed that banana.”

It is unclear whether BAD IDEA has more heists planned for the future. When asked for comment, Siena Fallon, VP of Sales & Marketing stated, “Dysart was supposed to nab a back-up banana. Wait, since I admitted it was Dysart, do I get the reward?”

The High Court of Metz and the Perrotin Gallery, which sold the artwork, have yet to respond for comment.
