LARRY CORREIA’S DRAGON AWARD-WINNING ‘GUN RUNNER’ COMES TO COMICS

Eisner Award-winning NEXUS and PUNISHER writer Mike Baron adapts the military sci-fi adventure by Correia and John D. Brown for an official graphic novel

ATLANTA, GA — October 5, 2026 — Giant combat mechs, interstellar gun runners and one very dangerous job are making the jump from prose to comics in GUN RUNNER: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, VOL. 1, the official graphic novel adaptation of the award-winning science-fiction novel by Larry Correia and John D. Brown.

Originally published by Baen Books, Gun Runnerwon the 2021 Dragon Award for Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel. Now the story is being adapted for comics by Eisner Award-winning writer Mike Baron, co-creator of Nexusand Badger and longtime writer of Marvel’s The Punisher, with artwork by Marcelo Salaza.

The adaptation is being produced by Hound Dog Media in partnership with Baen Publishing and BIG Comics.

At the center of Gun Runner is Jackson Rook, a former war hero and mech pilot who has traded military glory for a life on the wrong side of the law. Rook and the crew of the MSV Tar Heel make their living stealing battle mechs and delivering them to worlds that aren’t supposed to have them.

Then Rook gets the job of a lifetime: steal one of the most advanced combat mechs in existence and deliver it to Swindle, a hostile world where even the atmosphere can kill you.

But the mission isn’t what Rook was told. When he discovers what his client has planned, the hardened smuggler faces a choice between finishing the job, or becoming the hero he thought he had left behind.

The project brings together creators with deep roots in science fiction, fantasy and comics. Correia is the creator of the bestselling Monster Hunter International series, while Brown is the author of the Dark God and Drovers series. Baron has spent more than four decades in comics, including celebrated runs on Nexus and The Punisher as well as work on The Flash, Batman and Star Wars.

The graphic novel recently completed a successful Kickstarter campaign, with readers backing the project far beyond its original funding goal and unlocking some additional freebies. Late pledges are still open, giving readers who missed the campaign another opportunity to reserve the book while the project moves toward production.

The campaign is also fast approaching an Expanded Edition stretch goal that will add 15 pages to the graphic novel. GUN RUNNER: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, VOL. 1 is available for late pledges through Kickstarter: http://kck.st/4xttmtF
