September 29, Mt. Laurel, NJ: The truth is out there! Dynamite Entertainment and Disney Publishing Worldwide announce further details on the debut of new comic books from The X-Files, officially launching this December!
Veteran and fan-favorite franchise writer Joe Harris returns alongside artist R.D. Brown to the tales of Mulder and Scully with a new set of declassified cases from the vault. The new comic series picks up some time after the end of the episode “My Struggle IV,” the season and series finale of the eleventh season of the show.
Agents Mulder and Scully return once more to the FBI’s X-Files division in the shadow of the loss of their child William, the presumed death of the Cigarette Smoking Man, and the cliffhanger ending of Scully being pregnant once more. The shadows soon touch our heroes again as the conspiracy of a secret alien presence in the world is tracked down by both the duo and a mysterious organization seeking to harness it for their own purposes.
To complement this mind-tingling tale from Harris and Brown, Dynamite announces the full range of enticing covers for the comic series. Artists Clayton Crain and Ivan Tao’s styles complement the eerie energy of the franchise. In addition to Harris adding to his nearly 60 issues to date of The X-Files comics, another veteran is back with The Walking Dead superstar Charlie Adlard doing covers, following his breakout work with Sculder and Mully in the 1990s for comics originally published by Topps. A special icon cover presents a classic mixed media image by Miran Kim from that same beloved era. Collectors can also opt for the exciting blind bag, filled with rare variants including an exclusive piece by superstar Martin Morazzo (The Deadman, Ice Cream Man).
“The X-Files only gets more relevant as the years go by and the government gets weirder and weirder, the UFOs become mainstream, and the trust in institutions, from the government on down, gets harder and harder to spare,” said writer Joe Harris.
