Comments: Jessica is told the truth about containing monsters and that she will have to make some hard choices in the field when she is old enough and trained to be out on her own. Innocent people may have to die for the greater good.
Cecelia has the heart of a killer. She has no trouble killing for the sake of killing. Jessica has a big heart and will only kill if necessary. These two girls argue and disagree. Which one is right? Their trainer, Adda, thinks she knows which approach is better. In the job they are doing, sometimes you have to be unfeeling and simply act.
Something is killing the children in the world, and only these people from the Houses can stop it. The Houses exist for a reason, and they do a job that no one else can. Jessica is good at that job, and she will only get better with experience.
The art beautifully depicts each character’s personality in a subdued style. Jessica has so many emotions within her, yet you can clearly see she can be hardened. Jessica has what it takes to kill the things that are killing the children. She does not take pleasure in it, yet she does get the job done.
