The Real Superheroes of Beverly Hills Debuts at Comic-Con

Creators will Sign Illustrated Novel at 1First Comics and Flippitoons Booths

Los Angeles, CA — What do you get when you blend superhero action with reality TV parody, set against one of the world‘s most glamorous backdrops? According to writer Steve Stern and artist Jim Fletcher, the answer is The Real Superheroes of Beverly Hills.

Stern, co-creator of Zen Intergalactic Ninja, and Fletcher, former Creative Director of DC Direct, have a long history. The two met when Fletcher created the packaging design for the Zen videogames from Konami and action figures from Just Toys, as well as illustrated all of the covers for the Zen series published by Archie Comics.

The Real Superheroes of Beverly Hills is a genre-bending mix of action, humor, and satire, offering a fresh take on the superhero genre. The story follows four high school friends—Rich, Heather, Mikey, and Joseph—whose lives are transformed after a cosmic event at the Griffith Observatory grants them superpowers. From telekinesis to energy blasts, light illusions to super strength, the teens quickly go from anonymous students to viral sensations. But just as they begin to understand their new roles, a slick TV producer pitches them the ultimate twist: starring in their own unscripted series. As the action unfolds, the heroes must juggle paparazzi, public pressure, and a growing fanbase—all while battling a crazed tech villain and his AI-enhanced henchmen.

In addition to Zen, Stern has created a number of other comic book properties, including Shygirl, Frickin’ Butt-Kickin’ Zombie Ants and the upcoming Majestic Comics. He is also the author of the Beowulf and A Christmas Carol graphic novels published by the UK’s Markosia.

As the creative powerhouse behind DC Direct, Fletcher created DC Ame-Comi, DC Cover Girls and co-created DC Bombshells, along with driving the fan-favorite Batman Black and White series to over 100 statues. He now brings his bold design talents to this new superhero universe.

1First Comics founder and publisher Ken F. Levin said, “With its unique concept, The Real Superheroes of Beverly Hills illustrated novel is a great new addition to our growing 1First Books imprint, and we’re excited to be debuting it at Comic-Con.”

Stern and Fletcher will be signing at 1First Comics booth #2001 on days and times listed at the booth, as well as Flippitoons booth #1735.
