Legendary Japanese anime creators Masaki Sato and Hisashi Kagawa, along with veteran voice actor Hisao Egawa, will be appearing at NYCC Booth #3809 alongside fan-favorite comic artist Clayton Crain for a one-of-a-kind collaboration.
Throughout the convention, the guests will be at the booth meeting fans, signing autographs, and creating sketches, giving attendees a chance to meet the legendary artists and voice actor behind some of anime’s most iconic characters and moments.
As part of the appearance, Sato and Kagawa are each creating an exclusive cover for Clayton Crain’s Out of Hell series, marking a unique collaboration between legendary Japanese anime artists and a celebrated Western comic artist.
Here’s a little bit about these talented creators signing, sketching and meeting fans at NYCC Booth #3809:
MASAKI SATO
Animator, Character Designer, Animation Director
A four-decade veteran of Japanese animation, Sato worked on Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, including the iconic scene of Goku’s first Super Saiyan transformation. He also served as character designer for Slam Dunk and worked on Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.
HISASHI KAGAWA
Animator, Character Designer, Animation Director
Kagawa’s extensive career includes Sailor Moon, Pokémon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, and One Piece Film: Red. He served as character designer and animation director for Sailor Moon S: The Movie and Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie, and character designer and chief animation director for Pokémon the Movie 3: Spell of the Unown.
HISAO EGAWA
Voice Actor
Egawa has voiced characters across generations of anime and video games, including Killer B in Naruto Shippuden, The Pain in Metal Gear Solid 3, Falco Lombardi in Star Fox/Super Smash Bros., Spopovich in Dragon Ball Z, and characters in One Piece, Slam Dunk, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokémon.

The Out of Hell covers bring together two influential worlds: Japanese anime and Western comics. Sato and Kagawa are putting their own artistic interpretations on Crain’s series, creating an unprecedented collaboration for fans of both mediums.
