September 17, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment brings fans more classic adventures of the Daughter of Drakulon and a range of thought-provoking and spine-tingling tales across horror, fantasy, sci-fi and more anthology epics with the ninth volume of the new paperback Vampirella Archives.
This entry in the series of reprints compiles issues #57-64 of the celebrated magazine originally publishing by Warren. These issues cover almost the entirety of 1977, a high watermark for the title.
All nine volumes and counting can be read in any order, offering a window into the ongoing epic of the alien vampiress as well as standalone short stories by some of the greatest creators of the era. This book amounts to over 400 fabulous pages of black and white comics with select spots of color.
The preceding eighth entry was anchored by the anniversary issue #50 featuring a 40-page crossover epic encompassing Vampirella, Pantha, Fleur, and even another unexpected icon of comics.
Its follow up here also features a heavy-hitting extra-length epic that closes things out in issue #64. Writer Gerry Boudreau alongside artists Gonzalo Mayo and Carmine Infantino craft a nearly 70-page story starring Vampi. A couple of her other chapters within are written by Roger McKenzie, who played a key role in the 1970s reinvention of Daredevil. Definitive artist of the era Jose Gonzalez contributes several stories, including three tantalizing ones featuring fan-favorite villain the Blood Red Queen of Hearts.
Other creators featured in volume 9 include Bruce Jones, Esteban Maroto, Fernando Fernandez, Russ Heath, Jose Ortiz, Rafael Auraleon, Leopold Sanchez, and more.
The titanic tenth book to follow this will include multiple crossovers between Vampirella and Pantha, as well as the historic first cosplay cover for the character.
