Chino, California — August 2026 — Two independent superhero universes are about to collide.
G-Man Comics and Heroic Publishing are bringing one of Heroic Publishing’s best-known heroes, Flare, into the pages of SGT. FLAG #8.
The special crossover appearance brings Flare — Heroic Publishing’s shining goddess of light — into the world of G-Man Comics for an adventure alongside Sgt. Flag.
Created as part of the long-running Heroic Publishing superhero universe, Flare has been a central character in Heroic Publishing’s line for decades, appearing in numerous editions of her own series as well as other Heroic titles.
Now she is stepping into the G-Man Universe.
“One of the most exciting things about independent comics is that creators and publishers can find new ways to surprise readers,” said Rik Offenberger, Editor-in-Chief of G-Man Comics. “Bringing Flare into Sgt. Flag is exactly that kind of opportunity. She’s an established superhero with a tremendous history, and putting her together with Sgt. Flag gives us a chance to tell a story that neither character could have in their own book.”
The appearance also represents a meeting between two independent publishing traditions.
Heroic Publishing has been producing superhero comics since the late 1980s and is home to characters including Flare, Icicle, Lady Arcane, Liberty Girl and the League of Champions. Its stated publishing mission centers on presenting entertaining adventures featuring heroes who strive to live up to the heroic ideal.
G-Man Comics has similarly built its publishing line around traditional superhero adventure and a shared universe featuring titles such as Sgt. Flag, Lynx, Simon N. Kirby: The Agent, Taranis the Thunderlord, First Guard and Global G-Men.
In SGT. FLAG #8, readers will see what happens when Sgt. Flag’s world intersects with the extraordinary abilities of Flare.
“Sgt. Flag has always been about action, adventure and the idea of what it means to be a hero,” said Offenberger. “Flare fits perfectly into that world. This isn’t just a guest appearance because we thought it would be cool — although it is definitely cool. There’s a story here, and we’re excited for readers to discover it.”
The crossover is part of G-Man Comics’ August 2026 publishing event, which also features the landmark G-MAN COMICS 100! special celebrating the publisher’s 100th comic book.
