Riftbound: Vendetta Releases With New Mechanics & Legends

The popular trading card game by Riot Games is unleashing Riftbound’s fourth set, Vendetta, with new Legends and mechanics. Vendetta’s theme is about rivalry, with enemy Legends reflecting opposing colors. For example, Shen and Zed (Green and Red) and Mel and Ambessa (Yellow and Purple).  The new set introduces 3 new mechanics, including Flow, Burn, and Empower. Additionally, there is a new card type, Unit-Gear, which counts as both a unit and gear. A new set wouldn’t be epic without new Overnumbered variants, and Vendetta adds 22 more to be celebrated. Vendetta releases July 31 in English and Chinese, with a French release on October 23. Pre-Rift events begin July 24.

In Vendetta, enemy Legends reflect opposing colors. For example, Shen and Zed (Green and Red) and Mel and Ambessa (Yellow and Purple). These rivalry card illustrations display Legends in conflict, keeping the action during gameplay.

Vendetta brings forth new mechanics:

  • Flow lets you play cards from your trash instead of from your hand. It draws on the League of Legends champions who use Energy, capturing how quickly they recover and reuse their abilities.
  • Burn sends cards from a Main Deck to the trash. Some cards burn your own deck to fuel synergies, while others attack an opponent’s deck directly.
  • Empower gives cards the potential to gain new abilities once they’re in play, often after paying a cost. You can get a card on the board one turn, then amplify its might or effect on another.

Vendetta introduces a new card type called Unit-Gear, which acts as both a unit and gear. The set also includes Decrees, a group of spells that focus on domain rivalries, where each domain’s decree targets cards of the opposite color.

Collectors have a lot to look forward to. Vendetta features nine new Legends, each with signed Overnumbered variants. It also includes 22 Rival Overnumbers, which celebrate the famous rivalries in the League of Legends universe. These diptych cards are meant to be displayed as pairs. Plus, the set introduces Crystal Rose Alt Arts, bringing Wild Rift’s returning skin line into Riftbound.

Vendetta is launching Showdown Decks, a new two-player box. It comes with two ready-to-play decks featuring Shen and Zed as player Legends. Additionally, new booster packs feature new art for Akali, Ambessa, and Mel.
