Wizards of the Coast Takes Over San Diego Comic-Con

Wizards of the Coast took over San Diego Comic-Con this year with panels, immersive activations, and an incredible presence of superheroes. The latest Magic: The Gathering set, Marvel Super Heroes, was on display all across Gaslamp, adorning the trolley and bustling walkways.

Mark Rosewater (Head Designer, Magic: The Gathering) and Gavin Verhey (Principal Game Designer, Magic: The Gathering) spoke on popular panels. Rosewater presented his daily blog, Blogatog, live and answered audience questions on the popular trading card game. Verhey gave attendees and viewers at home a glimpse into the new Magic: The Gathering set on the horizon, Star Trek. The Marriott Marquis held a Star Trek Activation with photo ops featuring the LEGO group and Magic: The Gathering. Participating in the experience earned attendees a Kirk, Enterprising Captain, promo card. Star Trek is available for pre-order and set to release in November 2026.

During Comic-Con weekend, attendees had the opportunity to explore the Experience at Petco Park, where Magic: The Gathering organized learn-to-play sessions, ticketed gaming events, and an exciting five-hole Tap Tap Mini-golf course. Visitors could try out the Marvel Super Heroes set and receive a special Loki, God of Mischief promo card, a comic book, and a welcome deck to take home.

Inside the official Comic-Con Exhibit Hall, attendees were able to get a first look at some cool Dungeons & Dragons merch at the Hasbro Booth. This included the new Dungeons & Dragons Gameplay Expansion: Arcana Unleashed, Deadfall, and pieces from Ravenloft.
