Announces WARRIOR Ahead of
San Diego Comic-Con

Originally Created for Heavy Metal Magazine, the Long-Lost Warrior Finally Finds Its Way to Readers Through Visitors Media

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

JULY 20, 2026 (PORTLAND, OR) — Originally conceived for the pages of Heavy Metal Magazine, WARRIOR is finally making its long-awaited debut through Visitors Media, bringing an 80-page sci-fi adventure packed with heart, humor, cinematic action, and just enough existential dread to keep readers guessing.

Written by Denver-based author and publisher Hal Jay Greene (Chronoventure) and illustrated by Joel Ojeda (Superman, Street Fighter), with a cover by Daxiong (Star Wars, The Joyners in 3D), the 80-page sci-fi comedy adventure also features an expanding lineup of exclusive guest artist variant covers from celebrated comic creators, with additional contributors to be revealed throughout the Kickstarter campaign.

When a space-hardened freighter pilot and her young droid companion take on an unlikely passenger–a tiny, battered robot with a penchant for tall tales–they dismiss its claim of being the commander of a race of “great warriors” as nothing more than delusions of grandeur.

But when a terrifying, bio-engineered horror starts hunting them, they begin to wonder if the bot’s outlandish claims might hold a germ of truth.

Could this tiny being really hold the key to unimaginable treasure? Or is it simply a relic of the Old Empire with a hyperactive imagination?

Warrior delivers a tale packed with heart, humor, and a healthy dose of existential dread.

Hal Jay Greene has spent more than a decade building original science fiction worlds through graphic novels, tabletop games, and multimedia storytelling. With Warrior, another piece of that universe finally comes to life.

“I have always been obsessed with the intersection of words and design, and my work in the graphic novel is an attempt to fuse the two into a coherent whole that is bigger than the sum of its parts,” said Greene. “For me, the best thing is a story that can be read without words, and vice versa. If the two can somehow come together in a work of literature that is creative nirvana.”

Notably, one of the Kickstarter campaign’s signature rewards will be an exclusive audio adaptation from the award-winning team at Soundbooth Theater, known for producing some of today’s most celebrated science fiction and fantasy audiobooks. Narrated by acclaimed voice actor Jeff Hays, whose performance of Matt Dinniman’s multimillion-selling Dungeon Crawler Carl series has earned a devoted following, the production showcases Hays’ remarkable range as he brings dozens of distinct character voices to life. The exclusive audio edition offers fans a one-of-a-kind way to experience Warrior, making it a standout collectible for both comic readers and audiobook enthusiasts.

Inspired by Star Trek: Lower Decks and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Warrior blends sharp humor, cosmic action, and outrageous characters into a fast-paced, standalone graphic novel presented in an oversized premium format. The graphic novel marks the latest expansion of Greene’s growing Across Space universe, a creator-owned science fiction saga spanning graphic novels, tabletop games, and multimedia storytelling. Through Visitors Media, he continues expanding the interconnected universe for longtime science fiction fans and newcomers alike.

The Kickstarter campaign for Warrior launches in Fall 2026Stop by Visitors Media at Booth #1630 during San Diego Comic-Con 2026 (July 23-26) for a first look at the campaign, and sign up on the LaunchBoom pre-launch page to be notified when it goes live and be among the first to access exclusive rewards, collector editions, and campaign-only extras.
