Date Everything! Is A Dating Sim Must (REVIEW)

For all the dating simulator gamers out there, Sassy Chap Games’ Date Everything is one you won’t want to miss. Step into a world where you can (literally) date everything in your home. Launched in summer 2025, Date Everything! continues to captivate its community with new updates and an amazing cosplay community. Additionally, the wildly popular, queer-centric game won Best LGBTQ+ Indie Game and Gayming Fan Favourite earlier this year.

Date Everything! is a unique dating sim where players can romance over 100 fully voiced characters. Play as a down-on-their-luck protagonist who loses their customer service job to AI. When an unexpected gift from a stranger arrives, your life changes forever, with special glasses called “Dateviators.” When worn, these glasses bring everyday household items to life, transforming them into quirky characters with their own distinct personalities.

Each character features branching stories filled with humor. You can explore three different endings and experience varied love stories. Managing your time is crucial, as you have only 5 actions to interact with the characters. Whether you choose to befriend them or make enemies of them is your choice.

Can’t Wait To Love

Throughout the first 2 hours of gameplay, I met a solid number of characters and completed my first “Love” quest. The world you call home is a cozy and inviting space waiting to be discovered. Within a 3-D sandbox home, with soft lighting and countless areas to explore, Date Everything! is great for cozy gamers. Simply maneuver through the game, focus your sick glasses on an object, and watch it come to life.

Upon starting the game and meeting Skylar, the first date with the Dateviators is initiated. To spot potential dateables, the glasses need to be equipped with the Space button. A friendly narrator (voiced by JB Blanc) chimes in to set up the scene, a colorful announcement introduces me to the new Dateable, and the dialogue choices are up to me. SPECS points are earned whenever a milestone in the Love, Friendship, or Hate status unlocks with a dateable. These points unlock more dialogue choices through categories: Smarts, Poise, Empathy, Charm, and Sass.

The attention to detail for every individual character is nothing short of incredible. Their designs perfectly resemble the household items they are, down to the last circuit knob. For example, Eddie (the fusebox) has a head of black and red copper wires and a breaker-box-style vest. Wires are lined along his clothing, with labels on the switches, indicating which item he is.

Plenty To Go Around

The game casts a spotlight on diversity, featuring a wide range of identities, body types, personalities, styles, and more. This is a dating sim where every character truly does feel unique. From the voice acting to nationalities, players will find that these characters share real-life struggles and hold memorable stories.  I became intrigued to find more characters throughout my house, searching every nook, cranny, and shadow for interesting interactions. The game does not disappoint. Throughout my playthrough, I enjoyed learning about the characters and discovering the stories and gossip among them. Additionally, players can romance more than 1 character in the same playthrough without penalty.

The phone helps you navigate the game and its characters, while also adding more pieces to the story. Players can access apps/features, and while some are self-explanatory, others add more to the story. For example, as to what life was like before losing your job and the occasional message from your old coworkers. The Settings app is self-explanatory, but there is a helpful list including the Content Aware Mode. A Date-a-dex app acts like an organized registry for each character, showing players who they’ve interacted with. Character likes and dislikes will also be displayed. The Settings are user-friendly, with the newest update taking from community feedback to implement more. Content-Aware warns players before a conversation with uncomfortable themes. Skipping these character interactions has no consequence, keeping to the cozy, your-game feel.

Parting Words

In conclusion, there’s no right or wrong way to play Date Everything!. After four hours, I felt satisfied with my experience. I explored the house, made connections, and chose my dateables to romance. The game has three endings: Love, Friendship, and Hate. Your dialogue choices during interactions determine the outcome. You can end the game by leaving your house whenever you want. Completion time varies for everyone, and you decide when to finish.

For gamers who love a fun adventure with a dash of cozy and quirky, this is for you.
