The art gives the book a dark, sinister appearance. The monsters are frightening and intimidating. As Erica battles the creature, you get the sense that it is the monster who should be afraid. Erica is a fighter and a killer, and she stops at nothing.
Cecelia meets with the only witness to the monster killings. You can feel the tension as Cecelia considers whether she should kill her.
Jessie and Erica have a long, honest conversation. Jessie is brutally honest about killing. It is a chilling aspect of the job of a monster hunter.
