Welcome back my fellow homage hunters. For a long time, homage covers were usually homages of comics of the past. They were mostly homages to the classics like Action Comics #1 and Amazing Fantasy #15. The last decade or more we’ll see a hot book get homaged almost as quickly as the original is released. Artist Marat Mychaels has been the quickest “draw” on some of the coolest homage covers. His homage to “Final Boss #2” titled “Final Pooh #2” was released the same day.
Books like “Something is Killing the Children”, “Department of Truth”, “D’ORC” and “Absolute Batman” were such big hits, homages started flowing in soon after their release. Awesome to see the phenomenon of “Absolute Batman” and Nick Dragotta’s cover of issue #1 has become iconic already. Here are some of my favorites, I’ve only been able to bag a few, but the hunt is on.
