Superheroes Forever: Messing with the Archetype
Moderated by Cecil Castellucci, Sweeney Boo, Jay Odjick, and Michael Cho discussed the last superhero they worked on and how they make those characters their own. They also spoke about Michael Cho incorporating aspects of himself into Avengers: The Veracity Trap, as well as how and why Sweeney Boo and Michael Cho approach colouring their superhero stories.
The panel also explored breaking into comics, writing both for themselves and for others, the kinds of feedback they receive, and what factors influence their choices when selecting projects. Other topics included the weirdest work offers they have received that conflicted with their established body of work, deconstructing superheroes, bringing outside influences into superhero storytelling, and the representation of minorities in comics.
