The first installment of this upcoming epic crossover marks the first publication outside Italy featuring the collaboration between Stefano Vietti and Luca Enoch, the creators of the Dragonero series. This issue pairs Dragonero with Conan, who is mysteriously transported to the land of Erondár by dark forces. There, he meets the renowned dragon slayer, Ian Aranill (Dragonero). Despite initial doubts, the two must unite against a supernatural menace threatening both their worlds. Like many Conan series before, this issue effectively highlights the Sword and Sorcery elements, and it’s surprising to see Conan the Cimmerian teaming up with those who honor Robert E. Howard’s legacy with grace. The story is accessible for both new and longtime fans, requiring no prior knowledge of the characters, while at the same time, Vietti and Enoch deserve praise for introducing Dragonero with an aura of intrigue and bravery that feels genuine. Lorenzo Nuti’s artwork is bold and expressive, reminiscent of Leinil Francis Yu, showcasing detailed fantasy elements to the fullest extent. Though “Conan & Dragonero” follows a traditional formula typical of Conan stories, it offers an entertaining team-up that fans of the genre will enjoy, adding a fresh and welcome addition to the Conan universe.
