Comments: Athyr-Bast is out for the blood of Conan and Zula. Now, in the street, Conan and Zula must fight for their lives. The streets are dark and eerie, with the stench of magic around. The two of them descend into the depths of the city. In the depths is a serpentine nightmare birthing. Once there, it is a battle most foul for their lives are at stake. In the darkness, they fight these nightmares that come to life.
Zula does surprise Conan and the reader with a very unlike him type of move.
Athyr-Bast does strike back at Conan as she hits him where it hurts the most. You can feel the suffering of Conan and feel that he will get even. Athyr-Bast wants her revenge on Conan, and he wants his on her should their paths ever cross again.
This Stygian city reeks of ancient evil slithering about. Conan deals with it in his own rough fighting way. His sword does cut many down.
He does leave this city of death with a heavy heart. His adventures will continue.
