Comments: One sleek, cool car greets the reader, set against richly detailed backgrounds. The sense of speed on the first page is perfectly conveyed. Mateo looks confident behind the wheel, and the Lynxmobile is a beauty. Rothlander is turned down—and so is his Lynxmobile. Mateo makes the right choice, though Rothlander doesn’t see it that way.
Manga Kitty is given the job of killing Mateo, though he comes across as a bit of a joke. Still, he bursts into the room with a surge of energy. The fight that follows is hard-hitting, with both sides giving and taking. From the start, it’s clear which one is the tougher opponent.
Sgt. Flag appears here as a man with both attitude and wisdom, offering Mateo solid advice.
Finally, Mateo is shown at home with Maya, the other half of Lynx. It’s clear how lucky he is to have her. She’s beautifully drawn—supportive, loving, and a perfect partner by his side.
