Alyx Phoebe MacDonald went through the history of the X-men as it relates to queer characters and themes. She spoke about the comics code and how it forbade homosexuality. She spoke about Chris Claremont era and gave a bio of Chris and how people in his life influenced the X-men title, she talked about Northstar coming out in the 1990s and how the character was conceived as gay, with plenty of hints given in the early Alpha Flight stories but how Jim Shooter refused to allow a gay character in Marvel Comics. She spoke about Grant Morrison’s run in the 2000s, then the 2010 Revolutions Era and The Krakoan Era. Alyx went into specific characters such as Iceman, Mystique, Destiny and Kitty Pryde. She also spoke about X-Men in other media (movies and cartoons) and why this is important.
