1First Comics Releases Two New Titles at Comic-Con 2017

Zen Intergalactic Ninja #1 from 1987

“It was 30 years ago that Dan Cote and I self-published Zen Intergalactic Ninja #1 up in Auburn, Maine,” said Steve Stern.  “That book was a labor of love, especially for Dan, who spent nearly two years airbrushing the art.”

Cote said, “Little did we think that our homegrown comic-book would have over a hundred comics and graphic novels to his credit, and be spun off into videogames, action figures and a host of other products.”

To commemorate Zen’s 30th anniversary, First Comics is unveiling two new Zen titles, Home and Zen Bounty Hunter, at Comic-Con

“These are two very important issues,” said Stern.  “In Home, Zen finally returns to planet Baltoon, where he came to life in a genetic experiment, and meets the female scientist, Teslah, who saved him by jettisoning him into space. And in Zen Bounty Hunter, certain aspects of his appearance become altered.”

Stern and Cote will be signing at 1First Comics booth # 2001 throughout the Con.  “Zen has officially become a multigenerational comic-book hero,” said Cote.  “Many of our fans from back in the day are now introducing their kids to him, which is pretty cool.”

1First Comics publisher and Preacher Executive Producer Ken F. Levin said, “Zen is a true independent comics phenomenon.  We’re looking forward to his next thirty years, including finally seeing him come to life on the screen.”
