The Strange Harvest of Dr. Aquarius
By Jeff Deischer

What happens when America’s most popular patriotic hero is killed? You get an epic story featuring many characters that are second and third generation super heroes.
Jeff Deischer has written a novel that reintroduces comic book fans to characters from the past that many fans, myself included, have only read a reference or maybe an issue. Mr. Scarlet, the Stuntman, the Boy Explorers, the Red Demon, Captain 3D, the Spider and others are the main characters in this fast paced mystery. If you don’t know who the characters are, don’t worry, Jeff will give you their history and the origins of the men and women who follow in their footsteps.
The story starts in 1976 with an ending, a funeral of a beloved hero that was killed while investigating another murder of a Judge. Attending the funeral is the man who was the protégé and later a hero of his own, the Spider. As the story moves on, other heroes are introduced to the investigation with names from the Golden and Silver age of comics. As I mentioned before, many of the heroes were minor stars back in the day. Unlike many other adaptions of older heroes, Jeff Deischer’s versions show the work and love he has for the characters in his research and writing.
As the book continues several more generational heroes are introduced until at the end they are together for an exciting conclusion. As for the villain, it’s not your normal Scooby Doo man in a rubber suit griping about ‘those meddling kids and their dog.’ Make sure you have an afternoon or evening free, as you will not want to put it down until the last page. After that you will be asking Jeff Deischer to write more books featuring the heroes in solo stories.
