suicide-squad-movie-posterOver the years the rise of the Anit-Hero has been quite strong in both comics and society. Characters like the Punisher and Venom have gone from being villains to being heroes without changing anything about them as society has changed their views on what makes a hero. With the new movie Suicide Squad, Warner Bros takes it one step further and makes the villains both villainous deadly and lovable. It’s a gamble to assume audiences will flock to the super villain the way they flocked to the Gangster in the 30’s. I wonder if you could bet on the success of the film on Pokies, you can check the list yourself

The unlikely team of villains include…

deadshotDeadshot
Deadshot is one of the world’s greatest assassins, known for his expert marksmanship and near perfect track record. He is one of the core members of the Suicide Squad

jokerJoker
The Joker, Clown Prince of Crime, is Batman’s arch-nemesis. An agent of chaos known for his purple three-piece suit and insidious smile, he has caused Batman more suffering than any other villain he has ever faced. His origin, name, and true motivations remain a mystery.

harley-quinnHarley Quinn
Harley Quinn first appeared on Batman: The Animated Series in the episode, “The Jokers Favor”. She was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm and inspired by Arleen Sorkin and one of her characters Harlequin. Harleen Quinzel was a former Pyschiatrist at Arkham Asylum. Her patient was the Joker and he told her all his “secrets” and eventually she fell in love with the Clown Prince of Crime. Harleen Quinzel adopted the name Harley Quinn and broke the Joker out of the Asylum and became his assistant.

captain-boomerangCaptain Boomerang
George “Digger” Harkness was raised in an Australian town called Korumburra in poverty, during which time he developed great skill in making boomerangs, and in using them as weapons. As a young adult, he was hired as a performer and boomerang promoter by a toy company which was, unbeknownst to him, owned by his biological father. It was at this time that he developed the Captain Boomerang persona that he would continue to use in his later criminal career. Audiences ridiculed him, and a resentful Harkness turned to using his boomerangs for crime.

killer-crocKiller Croc
Waylon Jones was born with a genetic mutation giving him a reptile’s skin, sharp claws and teeth; due to genetic atavism. Croc became a circus wrestler whom would rise to conquer the Gotham Mob racket only then to become one of Batman’s most physically imposing rogues.

enchantressEnchantress
June Moon has the ability to become the Enchantress, a powerful sorceress, by saying the word “Enchantress”. The Enchantress would revert back to June Moon after saying the same word.

katanaKatana
A superb samurai, she uses her deadly sword, The Soultaker, to fight evil around the world. The mystic sword contains the soul of every person killed by it and Katana can communicate with those souls. She is currently a member of the Birds of Prey.

Good luck to Warner Bros in their attempt to change what a super hero movie is all about.
