MCM SCOTLAND COMIC CON – SECC, GLASGOW – 24-25 SEPTEMBER 2016

MCM Scotland Comic Con returns to the SECC on 24-25 September for another packed weekend of geeky fun – and there’s a great line-up of guests coming to Glasgow with us.

This year, Scotland’s biggest celebration of all things pop culture plays host to a pair of iconic British sci-fi stars – Doctor Who’s Sylvester McCoy, who played the panama-sporting Seventh Doctor from 1987-1989, and Red Dwarf’s Chris Barrie, soon to return to our TV screens as cowardly hologram Arnold J. Rimmer in the much-loved sitcom’s Season XI.

Other guests include Sean Kelly and Jesse McClure, the host and breakout star of addictive auction show Storage Hunters; Chris Barrie’s former Red Dwarf co-star Hattie Hayridge, who played ship’s computer Holly in Seasons III-V; Harry Potter and Doctor Who actor Simon Fisher-Becker and Andrew Lee Potts (Primeval, Band of Brothers), who’ll be presenting a new episode of his futuristic web series Wireless.

Speaking of web series, you’ll find four top YouTube guests at MCM Scotland Comic Con this year: Hilly and Hannah Hindi, creators of über popular musical parodies on The Hillywood Show; Tom ‘Tomska’ Ridgewell, whose comedy and cartoons are enjoyed by millions; and high profile online presenter, vlogger and cosplayer Meg Turney.

From further afield comes Anime Guest of Honour Reo Kurosu, whose work includes top titles such as Fullmetal Alchemist, The Heroic Legend of Arslan and the new Berserk adaptation. Also from the world of animation come RWBY stars Arryn Zech (Blake Belladonna) and Kara Eberle (Weiss Schnee), meeting fans as guests of MyM magazine.

Scotland Comic Con also welcomes a star of the printed page in the shape of legendary comic book artist, writer and editor Bob Layton (Iron Man, Hercules). You’ll find a host of other talented creators in the show’s Comic Village area too, from Gary Erskine, Gordon Mclean and Yishan Li to Craig Collins, Kathryn Briggs and Sammy Borras. In addition, authors Charlie Stross, Jenny Colgan and Ken Macleod will be attending the Saturday of Comic Con, while Mike Cobley and Charlie Fletcher are set to meet fans on the Sunday.
