Blizzard Entertainment’s popular FPS Overwatch has begun their “Winter Wonderland” event this week.  This new event boasts new character skins, emotes, victory poses, and 2 added game modes.  The event will run from December 12 until January 1.

This year’s event will include 2 different winter themed game modes.  Returning this year is “Mei’s Snowball Offensive.” In this mode 2 teams of Mei’s go around the map to load their blasters for take down opposing players.  However, players can only shoot one snowball at a time so make them count.  Players can also power up to Mei’s Ultimate, which will turn her blaster into an automatic snowball launcher for a limited time. “Mei’s Snowball Offensive” takes place in the Black Forest and Ecopoint: Antarctica maps.

The new game mode this year is “Yeti Hunter.” In this new mode 5 Mei’s will team up to hunt a Yeti that has similar abilities to Winston.  The Mei’s will have to stop the Yeti from gathering enough meat to unlock his rage ability that makes him immune to attacks.  However, the Mei’s can unleash their ultimate ability, a “Yeti Trap” that pops up from the snow.

Decked out for this holiday season are the Black Forest, King’s Row, and Hanamura maps. Players will also find some new surprises in their winter loot boxes.  Reinhardt will have a new “Snowball Fight” heroic intro for plays of the game.  There are also new holiday emotes.  Zenyatta has a “Snowflake” emote using his mystical abilities.  Meanwhile Orisa has a “Puppy” emote that is sure to melt a lot of hearts this holiday season.  The biggest item players want are the new holiday skins for different characters. New skins this year include:

Alpine 76 (Soldier 76)

Snow Owl (Ana)

Beachrat (Junkrat)

Casual (Hanzo)

Rime (Sombra)

Avalanche (Bastion)

Ice Fisherman (Roadhog)
