JEZ'(RE): THE FX / MARVEL — LEGION EXPERIENCE
So, yesterday I had a really big interview.
Totally unprepared—slacker, I know.
She was completely out of my league.
Answered each question so thoroughly, I wasn’t quick enough or knowledgeable enough to spring board.
Scheduled and hour—lasted 15 mins.
Grateful for her time.
Legion is airing February 8th.
Because I’ve done some things and my email address landed on some lists somewhere, received an email to attend a press opening to cover an exhibit in New York—I’m not in New York.
So I reply asking if someone internally would be willing to interview.
She said she’d inquire; but, if I had anyone whom the invite could be extended.
Remembered this dude on my Facebook had recently posted he’d relocated so hit him up—comic book creator, Kurt Christenson.
He’s got his costume ready.
In honor, really, of the show, “Integrageted Promotions” as put together an immense production.
Straight from the Press Kit:
Launching Friday, January 27 [-] 29, Legion Where?House opens to the public featuring a mind-bending three-day art exhibit in Brooklyn. The gallery presented by FX is inspired by the unpredictable world of Legion at Villain warehouse in Brooklyn, New York. The three-day exhibit will challenge audiences and bring the unfathomable power of the Legion to life with art installations inspired by the series’ themes, including:
- Forced perspective art piece by Michael Murphy
- Found materials installation by Clemens Behr
- Light and shadow installation by Kumi Yamashita
- Legion Key Art Mural by David Flores
- Multimedia installation inspired by the series
In addition, fans nationwide who want to take the art home can head to 56 participating comic book stores across the US including Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and more, that will be giving away the limited edition posters (while supplies last). Go to insidelegion.com/experience for the full list of locations.
Then! They came back with an opportunity to phone conference with FX: Vice President of Integrated Promotions Kenya Hardaway.
Instant YES, PLEASE.
Had the weekend to prep, Monday at 1PM, “Shit. I have an interview in one hour.”
Run to 7-11 for a burrito—well, walked—scarf; key to empty room for quite; quick note to boyfriend; dial in.
Recently applied to a design firm here in San Diego for a marketing account manager gig–never done it; but, posses all the skills to achieve—just have to do it.
They asked to come up with content for two websites and then explain how to promote it.
So I’m trying to piece together what FX is doing.
First question: What is “Integrated Promotions?”
Think that threw her off—I should know this—but; wanted to hear from her what that meant.
Just played back the recorded call—didn’t catch any of her responses.
Basically figure out ways to generate attention for projects.
She said the art experience wasn’t a standard and they really wanted to give fans a full Legion experience.
These art pieces are full installations.
But, I’m like: How is art exhibit in NY going to attract people all over…
This afternoon, they sent another email.
OMG. This is cool as shit:
So, I’m starting to see…
A big to do in New York.
A thing in L.A.
Limited edition posters at comic book stores across the country:
Apparently, they’re in stores now!!!
…there’s one is SD!!!
And—the interactive website—I’m a telepath: )
This has been really exciting discovering all the little nooks and crannies of their marketing plan.
And–fun as a fan.
…And–maybe a limited edition poster : )
HAPPY NERDING and SUPPORT INDIE <3
