James Gunn Issues Statement Regarding Marvel Rehire

After news today of James Gunn being rehired by Marvel Studios to direct the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, James Gunn has broke a prolonged social media silence.

Gunn issued the following statement on his Twitter account:

Gunn was fired by Disney/Marvel last July after old tweets resurfaced. The tweets contained material many found to be offensive. He has since apologized for them and admitted they were in bad taste, as well as a bad attempt at humor.

There was much speculation over who would take the helm after Gunn’s firing. Speculation also ran rampant over if his original script would be used.  Now that speculation can be put to rest. He will begin work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 when his work on Suicide Squad 2 is completed.
