Greg Berlanti’s Black Lightning is no longer in development at Fox. Fox decided the show did not fit with their plans for the fall season despite their comic book related shows Gotham and Lucifer doing well and and the upcoming Matt Nix untitled X-Men series in development.

Berlanti is hoping to move the series to the CW where he produces Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. Negotiations are still underway but that a pilot order at the CW is likely.

The official description of the series reads: “He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.”
