Guest list for the October event includes visionary creative talents Gene Yang, Jimmie Robinson, Malachi Ward

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—San Jose, CA: Independent comic fans rejoice! The Alternative Press Expo (APE) is pleased to announce its return to the San Jose Convention Center on October 8 and 9, continuing its long tradition of celebrating the best and brightest in independent publishing.

With a list of exhibitors that features a fantastic array of independent creators, publishers, and establishments—including the Jack Kirby Museum and the Cartoon Art Museum—APE 2016 is set to be the one of the coolest and diverse comics conventions dedicated to Indy comics in the industry.

“With comics and graphic novels gaining in popularity year after year, it’s more important than ever for independent and self publishers to have a platform to showcase their work and talent,” said APE founder Dan Vado. “APE is the perfect place for both comics newcomers and veterans to see the very best of what alternative press has to offer the comics community. We’re pleased to be back in San Jose for the second year in a row, and welcome comics fans from all over the world to this year’s APE, where they’ll be able to see creative work and guests that they have never seen before and discover an all new world of creative talent and independent spirits.”

Exhibitors for APE 2016 include Karate Pet Shop Comics, Ghost Thunder Collective, Black Sheep Comics, and more; while this year’s esteemed guests in alternative press include award-winning cartoonist and Library of Congress National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Gene Luen Yang, veteran comic book artist and creative talent Jimmie Robinson, and Ritual creator Malachi Ward.

Tickets for APE 2016 are on sale now, and for the second year in a row educators and librarians with verified credential will be admitted free.
