In 1970s Los Angeles, Jonny is one of the thousands of musicians trying to make it big while working a crummy bar job, and getting drunk with his whiskey soaked P.I. friend, Jackie. When Jonny gets tangled up with a local mob hitman, he not only finds a new and violent career, but maybe the inspiration for his music as well.

From Ollie Masters (The Kitchen, Snow Blind) and Eoin Marron (HER INFERNAL DESCENT, Army of Darkness, James Bond) comes the next rock’n’roll crime sensation, with a beat that’ll kill you dead.

OLLIE MASTERS ON WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT AND WHY HE’S EXCITED FOR IT TO COME OUT:

“Killer Groove is a 70s LA crime story about an unsuccessful musician finding success and musical inspiration as a contract killer. I’m excited to be working with such a great group of people on this book. Eoin, Jordie And Hass are some of the best people in comics and I’m privileged to get to work with them all.”

OLLIE MASTERS ON HOW HIS PERSONAL MUSIC INTERESTS INFLUENCED THE CREATION OF THIS PROJECT:

“I used to play the drums and know what it’s like to be out there playing gigs, although I never starting killing people so I guess that’s where the comparison stops. But like most people, I’ve got a love of those 60s/70s bands. I’m not an expert in that area but it’s my parents’ generation’s music, it was like a background soundtrack to my early life. So it’s weird, it’s like nostalgia for a time I never actually experienced.”

OLLIE MASTERS ON HOW HE WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO AFTERSHOCK COMICS:

“I think it was through Azzarello and Doe’s book, American Monster. They seemed to be producing these really interesting titles at AfterShock so I was really excited to take this project to them and it’s been such a  great experience working with them.”

EOIN MARRON ON (3) REASONS WHY COMIC BOOK FANS SHOULD ADD THIS TITLE TO THEIR PULL LIST:

– It’s a tragic, often blackly comic story set to the backdrop of a massive turning point in American culture with a diverse cast of characters you’ll love to hate and hate to love.

– It’s my creator-owned debut, so I’m getting to flex my storytelling muscles and challenge myself in ways I couldn’t before. I think I’m producing some of my best work thus far – but I’ll let the readers be the judge of that!

– If you’re thirsty for a cocktail of Chandler, Leonard, the Coen Bros., Mann, Soderbergh and rock music of the 70s (and who isn’t?), then we’re serving all night!

EOIN MARRON ON HOW HIS EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN SO FAR WORKING WITH OLLIE AND THE CREATIVE TEAM:

“I haven’t hired a musician-turned hitman to take them out yet; so fantastic so far! Me and Ollie have been meaning to re-team since we worked together on Sons of Anarchy: Redwood Original, and now we’re getting to do so on our own terms which is crazy exciting. Especially now that we’re in it with Jordie on colours and Hassan on letters – two insanely skilled individuals I’ve been dying to work with on interiors for ages! We’re also super lucky to have Tríona Farrell colouring my covers for the series. Dream team would be an understatement!”

EOIN MARRON ON SOME OF HIS FAVORITE AFTERSHOCK TITLES:

“COLD WAR, by Chris Sebela and Hayden Sherman is a recent favourite. Wickedly witty, high-concept sci-fi that keeps you on your toes with some absolutely electrifying artwork throughout. I’m hyped to check out Sherman’s new work in MARY SHELLEY: MONSTER HUNTER too! DREAMING EAGLES by Garth Ennis and Simon Coleby is also brilliant war stuff, as you’d expect from a team of that caliber. And I may be biased, but HER INFERNAL DESCENT is some truly modern, form-evolving work for the horror genre.”
